Thoughts on Afterpunk 19

   Most of my blog work in recent years has been at Instapunk Returns , and I rarely get very intimately introspective there. This place is more for conversations with myself than the rest of the world. But I just had occasion to come here looking for a particular post and wound up reading the whole site in one go. Never did the obligatory autobiographical first novel. Other ways to learn writing. This batch of stuff does fill in some of the blanks though. I’m not as displeased with it as I thought I would be. Yes, I’m moody and crabby and vain. Not news. It helped me to digest it all at once. Unspeakable in some ways but not bad at all in the final analysis. I could find only one flat-out lie in the complete set of 50 (now 51) posts. Have to wait and see what I think about it later on…

Second Letter to L.S.

College years. We were not on good terms. The promised letter… The book I have in mind. Portrait of an Archetypal Baby Boomer. You pick the title. Doesn’t have to be nice. You don’t have to like me. I have all (or many) of the faults of my generation, but I have also been a conscious witness of our journey through the destruction of modern civilization. Plus, I have been a writing pioneer, pointing the way toward a kind of expanded human intelligence that will ultimately transcend this sick and dangerous preoccupation with AI. Here’s my obligatory letter résumé of my life. Which doesn’t begin to tell the tale. Imagine this. If you were going to attempt a fictional iconic portrait of the Baby Boom generation, what might you dream up as a starting point for a narrative that would cover everything? A rural birthplace less than an hour from the nation’s birthplace but with its own documented roots to the Revolution, including its own Tea Party and game-changing local combat with elite Bri...
