Alzheimer’s Nation
Your brain dying of early onset dementia.
Like a lot of people, I suppose, I have been both shocked and outraged by the fact that Biden could be leading Trump in the polls, no matter how skewed and dishonest the media poll-takers are. The doddering groper from Delaware should be at ten percent approval and falling, not least because he is so obviously in the grip of Alzheimer’s Syndrome. How can it be that a majority of voters don’t know or don’t care how perilous it would be to elect as president a man who can no longer read successfully from a teleprompter, let alone a White House briefing book?
But then it occurred to me. Biden is the perfect candidate for the Democrat Party and maybe even for the nation we have become since we voted Saul Alinsky Obama into the White House. Biden is actually quite an accurate embodiment of the state of the union. I mean, what are the symptoms of Alzheimer’s? You lose your memories of your youth and then your maturity, not just by the passive act of forgetfulness. No, the destruction of the past in Alzheimer’s sufferers is savage, a literal breaking apart of your own history, so that only fragments linger for awhile, and people, places, and words have the wrong names suddenly. You increasingly lose the ability to recognize your children, relatives, friends, and your own reflection in the mirror. This devouring of the past by chunks that finally eat into the present is the principal distinction between Alzheimer’s and the normal memory losses of old age, which are usually short term and often convenient excuses for nostalgia. You become, finally, lost in both space and time. You wander away from home, from thought, from the ability to think, and from yourself and everything you have ever held dear.
Where we are in the United States right now. A disease of consciousness has attacked our past, our very foundations as a civilization, the statuary memories which once reminded us of virtues we aspired to have been smashed, shattered, and ultimately reviled. We no longer recognize our children whose faces are twisted and inimical to the families that bore them. They are now only the predatory generation we somehow weren’t there to raise, being too busy with our own personal causes and comforts, which we are also forgetting once mattered to our younger, less damaged selves.
The Ideal Dem Candidate
Why Biden is so perfect. He smiles to the world but struggles to utter a coherent sentence, his old hands reflexively grasp for the things of the flesh his now reptilian brain still wants without knowing why or what for. He just wants more of it. It’s a big part of his status as a Democrat Party symbol of what they cacklingly call the future. A power-obsessed and morality free juggernaut hunting down power, power over everything and everyone, even though they have forgotten why they ever wanted power in the first place, why nothing they promised has ever come to pass, and the lives of those they made the promises to have mostly grown steadily worse. They have forgotten it all, just like good old Uncle Joe.
And the electorate? A majority, whether big or small but a majority nonetheless has also forgotten everything that matters and why and remembers only the last thing Nurse Ratched told them on her rounds, which is to stay indoors, cover their faces, fear the police, fear for their lives, fear the made up threats while you forget the real ones, fear the orange bogeyman above all, and leave everything up to the politicians who promise them the most money and drugs.
It’s called Alzheimer’s and the United States has it. There’s probably no saving us in the long run. You can’t heal or repair a younger generation you never taught anything important in the first place, which is why their brains are dying even faster than yours. The good news is you won’t remember any of this in a while, a very short while. Congratulations.
The rotted brain of the nation dissolving in a beaker of formaldehyde.
