Time to talk about the Big C
It’s all around us, permeating our everyday lives, including our hopes and fears, especially fears, and we don’t feel comfortable talking about it. As with other kinds of tacitly tolerated Censorship, the best known cure for speech we don’t like is more speech. So what are we talking about here?
FTA: <<Cunt!
I bet that got your attention didn’t it! It certainly got mine when I was on a course with Yoni Shakti teacher, Uma Dinsmore-Tuli, and she used the term. I had always been taught never to use it, that it was totally out of bounds, the most uncouth word in the English language, and hearing her using it in class was completely out of my comfort zone. I wasn’t sure what to make of it, could I trust this woman who was calling a vagina (as I used to call it back then) a cunt?
It still interests me to this day how challenged we are by anything outside our conventional thinking or understanding; how we will likely feel a sense of distrust towards anyone who is somehow different to us, who looks, behaves or talks in an unfamiliar or slightly edgy way. This to the extent that we may well reject them simply because it challenges our perception of right/wrong, good/bad, acceptable/unacceptable, and therefore throws into question how we’ve been taught how to see and perceive the world.
The word ‘cunt’ kept appearing in my life though. Every time I read Uma’s definition of the term ‘Yoni Shakti’, there it was in black and white in her book, Yoni Shakti, a fabulous creation on all things yoni, yoga and Tantric. But for many years when sharing this definition from her book during my Yoni Yoga classes, I would skip the word ‘cunt’ simply because I couldn’t bring myself to say it out loud.
However, the word continued to bubble in and out of my consciousness. For example, it appeared in a Tantra course recently and one of my friend’s uses it a lot, not least as a swear word but to define what I now call a yoni, and what you might call a vagina or a flower or vulva or pussy, or any of the many terms that are used to describe this most amazing part of a female’s body.
However not all these words are accurate, the word ‘vagina’, for example, only relates to the sexual passage of the female from the vulva to the uterus, not the entire female genitalia. ‘The word ‘cunt’, however, like ‘yoni’, describes the whole lot, external and internal, including labia, vulva, pudendum, vagina, and clitoris. Therefore the term ‘cunt’ actually allows for female sexual pleasure, because it includes all the bits and bobs, which might be visited during sexual exploration.>>
Turns out to be a pretty huge subject for a lot of reasons, some of which are touched on in the excerpt above. Most obviously, perhaps, ‘cunt’ is one of George Carlin’s “seven dirty words” and by most contemporary assessments the worst of them all. Note that none of the other words are names of genitalia. So there’s something special about how the word is used and misused.
Feel free to skip the next section, which is set off by asterisks. It’s useful background and interesting in its own right, but no reason to lose focus on the questions we’re exploring. You can always come back and read it later on.

As befits a big important word, it has its own Wiki page, which begins thus:
FTA: <<Etymology
The etymology of cunt is a matter of debate,[10] but most sources consider the word to have derived from a Germanic word (Proto-Germanic *kuntō, stem *kuntōn-), which appeared as kunta in Old Norse. Scholars are uncertain of the origin of the Proto-Germanic form itself. There are cognates in most Germanic languages, most of which also have the same meaning as the English cunt, such as the Swedish, Faroese and Nynorsk kunta; West Frisian and Middle Low German kunte; another Middle Low German kutte; Middle High German kotze (meaning "prostitute"); modern German kott; Middle Dutch conte; modern Dutch words kut (same meaning) and kont ("butt", "arse"); and perhaps Old English cot.
The etymology of the Proto-Germanic term is disputed. It may have arisen by Grimm's law operating on the Proto-Indo-European root *gen/gon "create, become" seen in gonads, genital, gamete, genetics, gene, or the Proto-Indo-European root *gʷneh₂/guneh₂ "woman" (Greek: gunê, seen in gynaecology). Relationships to similar-sounding words such as the Latin cunnus ("vulva"), and its derivatives French con, Spanish coño, and Portuguese cona, or in Persian kos (کُس), have not been conclusively demonstrated. Other Latin words related to cunnus are cuneus ("wedge") and its derivative cunēre ("to fasten with a wedge", (figurative) "to squeeze in"), leading to English words such as cuneiform ("wedge-shaped"). In Middle English, cunt appeared with many spellings, such as coynte, cunte and queynte, which did not always reflect the actual pronunciation of the word.
The word, in its modern meaning, is attested in Middle English. Proverbs of Hendyng, a manuscript from some time before 1325, includes the advice:
Ȝeue þi cunte to cunnig and craue affetir wedding. (Give your cunt wisely and make [your] demands after the wedding.)
Offensiveness
The word cunt is generally regarded in English-speaking countries as profanity and unsuitable for normal public discourse. It has been described as "the most heavily tabooed word of all English words", although John Ayto, editor of the Oxford Dictionary of Slang, says "nigger" is more taboo.>>

Ah yes. The infinite landscape of the lascivious…
All this talk about offensiveness! It bears some digging into. For one thing, not all usages of the word are offensive. Some of them are specifically sexual and deliberately prurient, to both men and women. In this context it is as close to being a perfect word as it’s possible to get. One powerful syllable that is equally potent as an imprecation or a poetic encapsulation of something deeply profound. And more often than realized (or admitted) both at the same time. Men, the makers of words, don’t have a word for themselves as rich and somehow commanding as this one. Yes, they have lots of words conveying their sexuality, but all of them have fairly distinct connotations and therefore limitations. Not so with cunt. It contains (cuntains?) all possible connotations.
Speaking of which, I knew a gifted architectural student many years ago who laughed at the profession’s obsession with the word “phallic” in discussions about design. He pointed out that this was only half the picture. If there are aspects of mighty buildings that are clearly phallic, there are also aspects that are what he called “cuntal.” Stand underneath any dome or arched space inside a grand official building and you will realize that they are indeed cuntlike, powerfully female, magnetic to the eyes, suggestive of (im)penetrable origins, infinities, and wholenesses that transcend the stark erection imagery of, say, the Eiffel Tower.
It’s a magical word. One that can’t be fully known or controlled (cuntrolled?) in its usage and therefore has to be controlled, like all scary things. What do we do with scary things? We demystify them by making them into clichés that ultimately have no meaning. Or we put them in a lockbox and warn us away from them, lest you come to harm through mere contact. In which case, only strong emotions can break the lock from time to time when only the abyssal or transcendent will do.
The English-speaking world is responsible for this word, and it is the two dominant English-speaking nations which have exemplified the two approaches just described. The United States and the United Kingdom use the word cunt in completely different ways. The differences are instructive.
As is usual for Quora, the proffered explanation is glib and incomplete but indicative nonetheless. What I’m concerned about is the American version of the word, which is not about belittling men but challenging women.
Yes,Brits are cunts as they understand the word in a predominantly homosexual society that has long ceased to be manly in any regard. Good God, every male in the Brit Army is suffering from PTSD in every movie they make about the male about themselves. Proof is that another verboten word in an English is “twat,” which the Brits have made synonymous with just plain stupid. They’ve even made it into an adjective, and verb, all about sexless stupidity.
Give me a break.Americans have a different understanding. Cunts aren’t weak men here. They’re dangerous women.
Why we use the word the way we do. Something sinister about cunts. The word of words. Not just scratchy and pissy and difficult like bitches. Worse than that. Cunts have bad intentions. They are malignant in their motivations, which are always about control, destruction, punishment.
The Brits have no real cunts. They have holes in their selves. An emptiness that will never be filled because they are all homos regardless.
A cunt in America is not a hole in the crotch or elsewhere. The American cunt is a devouring vortex of destruction. She does not have any operative morality. She just wants to destroy you in the moment when it hits. Not a permanent state, but one that arises when you challenge her for control of a situation whose temporal nature she no longer recognizes. Because all women live in the moment, always in the moment, why men NEVER win an argument when the cunt emerges in their women.
Why Americans use the word less than the Brits. The Brits are trying to devalue the word (see rules above) with all their might. We Americans have made it the most powerful word in the language, the ultimate power source, the one word more powerful than any other at controlling men.american women are trying to reclaim it. Their big swallowing hole is poor:
I’m not playing that game. To me a cunt is a physics term. A black hole in the consciousness of the other sex. Where they can no longer be reached by human outreach. Just lost for the moment in mean, cruel viciousness that seeks your destruction. It has to be called out when it happens. Not a term lightly flung around. Just a “Mayday” when arguments turn deadly.
Britain is already lost. They don’t have as many cunts as we do. In America we are being done in by cunts. Sorry if you can’t handle the discussion in these terms. Truth is, though, even all the women know who the cunts are, no matter how much you deny, and you wish — no matter your umbrage and denial — that we were man enough to blow the whistle on you when you sink to that level.
When a man calls his wife a cunt in the northeast or midwest, honestly in the depths of argument, she should listen. It’s a wake-up call. We respect the word to a degree more than you do. We value words more than you do. An idea worth thinking about. Not an inflammatory flag but a notification. Like from Facebook. You violate Community Standards by earning this brand. In America. Whereas in Britain, all words have lost meaning, from twat to cunt in every part of speech. Why Britain is actually dissolving as a nation even as we report sadly on the first Revolution there since the 1600s…
The worst thing of all. Every women alive actually knows what I’m talking about…
